- Málið.is Everything about Icelandic. Dictionaries, inflections and more.
- BIN: Beygingarlýsing íslensks nútímamáls - The resource for how to conjugate, decline or inflect Icelandic words.
- Íslensk nútímamálsorðabók Icelandic modern day dictionary.
Dictionaries:
- Glosbe - A better dictionary than Google Translate.
- Digicoll - íslensk-ensk orðabók. No need for an Icelandic keyboard - Icelandic-English dictionary.
- The Islex dictionary This is a dictionary for speakers of Scandinavian languages but users can also listen to correct pronunciation.
- Google Translate Need I say more?
- Snara.is Multiple dictionaries online - available for a small fee.
- Dict.cc - a German dictionary that includes many languages, among them Icelandic.

Among the resources at Tungumálatorg, there are:
- Íslenska fyrir alla, Books 1-4, - Audio files (Flash player needed).
- Klaki: A compilation of word translations in English and French as well as different conjugations and more.
- Viltu læra íslensku? Videos in Icelandic about daily life. A good resource for training your ears and to add to your vocabulary. The text file containing the video materials, is here. (As of now, the projects that come with the videos, are unfortunately not working).
- Sjálfsmat Self evaluation for those that are wondering which course they should attend next.
- Velkomin - Information for schools and parents of kids that speak Icelandic as a second language.
- Katla - A resource for kids learning Icelandic. Adults could also take advantage of this material.

- Flexura - An app for studying nouns, verbs and numbers in Icelandic.
Different websites that have useful information:
- Bragi. The Icelandic website. The structure is admittedly a mess, but there's lots of good material there if you have the patience to dive in.
- Litli málfræðingurinn - The little grammatician. A free resource of Icelandic grammar. Not recommended for beginners. (I recommend this for students at level 3 and up. Click the picture of the bookworm).
- Digital Dialects. Games for Icelandic students (esp. beginners).
- Icelandic online An interactive website for Icelandic studies. (Available for a fee).
- Stoðkennarinn.is has available lots of useful assignments for students of Icelandic as a second language as well as other subjects (for a fee).
- Orðasafn íslensks framburðar - A website that can be used to listen to pronunciation of Icelandic. (You'll need Flash Player). There's also a game you can play.
- Verbix: Icelandic verb conjugation.
- The 100 most common Icelandic verbs. How to use them in different contexts, with in-sentence examples.
- Orðasjóður - A resource for building vocabulary. The box containing the pictures can be bought at Menntamálastofnun, but there are also projects that come with the box. You'll find them here.
- 100 orð - A vocabulary resource.
- Isländisch Lernen - a resource of Icelandic verbs from a German speaker, in Icelandic, English and German.
- Oksana's Icelandic notes on Instagram. Lots of helpful tips.
Reading materials for Icelandic students:
- Orð eru ævintýri (words are an adventure - a book and a webpage)
- Árstíðir: Karítas Hrundar Pálsdóttir.
- Books for foreigners by Kristín Guðmundsdóttir: Nýjar slóðir, Óvænt ferðalag, Leiðin að nýjum heimi, Birtir af degi and Tólf lyklar. (Order here.)
- Þankaganga Myślobieg (1 and 2): Vala Thorsdóttir and Agnieszka Nowak (a book for Polish/Icelandic kids).
- Sagnasyrpa: Short stories with vocabulary and checkpoint questions to enhance understanding. A great resource for students at level 4-5.
- Short stories in Icelandic (for beginners): Olly Richards.
- Leikjaland: 60 sögur á íslensku Short stories for students at levels 2-3.
- Ylhýra.is Passages in Icelandic with English translations.
- Kæra dagbók. A book series for kids, 8-12 years old. Listen online, add to the vocabulary, do assignments and more.
- Several short and simple stories for kids on the website of Menntamálastofnun.
- 1000 fyrstu orðin (the 1st 1000 words). Good for everyone, 2yo and up, that need to add to their vocabulary.
Icelandic Society
- In the wintertime the Icelandic Red Cross and Mímir run a project named Æfingin skapar meistarann - Practice makes perfect. Meetings are held at Mímir, Höfðabakka 9, Saturdays at 10-12 am. This is a platform for foreigners to practice their Icelandic. Take note that you are supposed to have some understanding of the language, this is not intended for total beginners. Attendance is free.
- Íslenskuþorpið. The Icelandic village is run by the good people at University of Iceland. The purpose is to create an environment that is friendly towards new speakers.
- Fjölmenningarsetur - Multicultural and Information Center. A resource for new residents in Iceland, available in 8 languages. They've got info about interpreters, housing, work, school, the health care system and more.
- Samfélagsfræðsla - Information about the rights and duties that all residents in Iceland have. Ask a fluent speaker for help with translation.
- Borgarbókasafn Reykjavíkur - Reykjavík City Library offers many different services to foreigners.
- Women in Iceland.is - Samtök kvenna af erlendum uppruna. This organisation helps foreign women in Iceland and has lots of resources for them, including on social issues, education and what to do if you're a survivor of violence.
- Söguhringur kvenna á Borgarbókasafni Reykjavíkur. This is a platform that Reykjavík City Library has set up with Women in Iceland. Women meet and share stories and enjoy each others' company at the Story Circle.
